William I. Schapiro

William I. Schapiro, Senior Counsel,  is a member of the Firm's Business and Corporate practice group. Prior to joining the firm in 1965, he practiced with other law firms in Buffalo and was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of New York from 1958 to 1960. He serves as counsel to numerous publicly- and privately-owned business corporations located in Western New York and in other parts of the United States. He has been primarily active in the areas of securities and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and real estate and other investment companies. He has been active in various community activities, including many years of service as a trustee, director and currently an active trustee emeritus of the University at Buffalo Foundation. For a number of years he taught courses in corporation law and related securities and commercial law subjects at the University at Buffalo Law School.
