Our Real Estate Investment Trust practice group is comprised of attorneys with significant years experience in providing tax, securities, transactional and corporate governance counsel to real estate investment trusts.

The attorneys in our REIT practice group serve as primary counsel to a number of publicly traded real estate investment trusts and routinely assist these clients with advice related to tax issues, portfolio composition, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture transactions and execution of financing transactions. The REIT practice group has particular experience with fund formation, entity structuring and qualification, initial and secondary stock offerings, as well as ongoing tax and securities compliance and reporting obligations. The Firm's REIT clients have real estate portfolios invested in a variety of areas such as office, industrial, retail and multi-family property. Our REIT group also has access to the combined experience of the Firm's real estate, environmental, and financial services attorneys to assist with particular issues during property transfer, financing transactions and portfolio due diligence activities. Our REIT clients and their boards of directors also have access to the Firm's Corporate Governance group for advice in a comprehensive set of areas such as board independence and structure, committee charters, code of conduct and ethics, transparency, risk assessment and management.
