In addition to the EFCA, President Obama, while in the Senate, also co-sponsored the "Re-Empowerment of Skilled and Professional Employees and Construction Tradesworkers Act," or the "RESPECT Act."  As proposed, the RESPECT Act seeks to reduce the number of individuals who are deemed "supervisors" under the NLRA.  This definition is critical because "supervisors" are not eligible to join a bargaining unit of represented employees.  Indeed, the NLRA's definition of "employee," expressly excludes "supervisors."
